Killin - Aberfoyle
Cycling route
Overview
About this route
following NCN7
Â
probably at least 2/3Â off-road and non-tarmac (Killin - Kings House Hotel, Strathyre - Callander, Loch Venachar - Aberfoyle)
Â
Surface condition: off-road stretches partly well surfaced, partly very loose, two sets of hair-pin descents (tarmac above Lochearnhead, loose gravel above Loch Lubnaig (south of Strathyre);
Â
If going N-S as we did, watch out for cars coming the opposite way along the off-road "forest drive" through Queen Elizabeth Forest (between Loch Venachar and the top of the track near the Duke's Pass)
Â
Look out for "Go Ape", the UK's longest zipwire slide (and lots of smaller ones, and rope bridges among the trees etc) on the final descent to Aberfoyle - looks like great fun!
