Macqurie Centre to Homebush Bay via Bike Paths
Macquarie University to the start of the M4 motorway.
80% is off-road cycleways or share-pedestrian paths. Road sections are from Quarry Rd to Meadowbank Station (Deniston East to Meadowbank, approx 2.5km) and from George St to start of the M4 (Concord West to North Strathfield).
Mostly flat, except for a pretty steep hill (Anzac Ave, West Ryde; downhill travelling south).
TIPS:
- cross at the lights to get across Herring Rd; the south corner of the Herring Rd/Waterloo Rd intersection has a wide shared path that connects to the Shrimptons Creek cycleway
- the ride through Bicentennial park is quite beautiful; rather than turning left and crossing under Homebush Bay Dr, turn right and take the slightly longer route through the gardens, and use the Bressington Park underpass, then turn left at the first bridge across the canal
- Turn left onto Concord Rd instead to get to skip part of Parramatta Rd and get onto the M4
- Turn left onto Princess Ave to get to Patterson St, which is the start of the (on-road) cycleways through Canada Bay
