A beautiful ride starting with a steep descent down Flagstone Creek Rd. A gradual climb starts at Ma Ma Creek and winds through the gorge to the top of Heifer Creek.
A couple of options to finish other than the one shown:
- Once you reach the New England Highway, keep heading along this and head straight into town. This does have a very sharp climb from Hodgson Vale until Kearney Springs.
- Continue to Pilton then head over to Clifton and back via Cambooya and Wyreema.
TAILWIND TOURS
3T MAY LONG WEEKEND 2011
A fun filled (but challenging) 325km journey from 550M to Sea Level
Day One
Our first day takes us down the Range via Flagstone Creek and across the floor of the picturesque Lockyer Valley to Ma Ma Creek before making a climb over Mt Sylvia then down into Laidely and on to Grandchester, Wallon and Amberley where we turn south for the final run into todays destination, Boonah. After lunch to our accommodation and an afternoon at leisure.
Day Two
After a hearty Breakfast we roll out en route to Tamborine via Beaudesert. A rest stop atop the Mt and then downward to the sleepy village of Canungra for a leisurely afternoon poolside, some R& R and sightseeing opportunities followed by a few quiet drinks and early dinner.
Day Three
Breakfast and on for the assault on our final day heading to Advancetown following the Nerang Murwillumbah Road down into the Numinbah Valley and on to Murwillumbah. Then a nice flat spin along the Tweed to the quaint little village of Tumbulgum for showers and a well deserved lunch. After lunch pack bikes and the Coach ride home to Toowoomba.
Kicking off near my place this route heads to Flagstone Creek with a fast descent until you reach the first floodway on the flat of Blanchview Road. Then consume all your food and turn around to go up the hill. It is steep but well worth the effort once you reach the top.
Nice country loop with only a few short rises. Easterly headwind can rise up toward the end of the ride.
Starts at 7/11 Service Station 5.05am Tuesday and Thursdays.
Avg speed 28-31 km/hr
