I wanted to (virtually) explore the trails/routes that are currently in OSM,  and best for the paved road cyclist.  My bike can handle both very well, so tommorow i'm going to try the extention ridge trail and make it to Cassidy then back to nanimo along the rotary route a bit.

I wanted to show how there are routes available which will be part of the National Cycle Network, as a direct connection for those traveling up island, as this region is really like a big junction, as the extention ridge trail is really also part of the Proposed National Hiking Network.

So overall, an awesome ride through some great country :)

heres the detailed route, the route around Casidy was a little scarry as there isn't any side road river crossings (that are on the map).

It connects to the Cowichan Valley Trail, but im not sure if it continues south.

I put it as mountain bike, as it might be challenging for a cycle tourist who wants to cover the distance.

Todays virtual route takes me along the Rotary Route, through Ladysmith and into Muerl town - Chemainus, BC

The parts along the highway cant be avoided, if anyone can find a better route, please comment so this can be replaced.
