Routes in Canada / British Columbia / Sidney

This is the route my wife and I took when visiting Butchart Garden's this summer.  Starting on the Lockside Trail this route is very mellow.  Vehicle traffic is only bad along Nt Newton Cross Rd but then tapers off midway on Wallace Dr becoming beautiful once in Brentwood Bay.

This was our second day of touring Vancouver Island to the Discovery Islands but really our first real day of biking.  We took the Lockside Regional Trail to the Galloping Goose Regional Trail.

This was a one way trip as we ended yo taking the bus back most of the way to Sidney.

This was day 3 of our summer 2008 tour.  We rode from Sidney, BC to Ladysmith skipping the Malahat and taking the Mill Bay farry.

Here's the route of the day it goes over all of the local area trails :)  But some would need a mountain bike.

Route on old railway right of way from Victoria to Sidney ( and onto Swartz Bay and BC Ferries).  It is a very popular cycle route can be almost crowded at times (horse, bike, and walkers).  Camping can be had at McDonald Park near Sidney and Island View Beach about 15 km south of Swartz Bay.  This is the best way to travel the length of the Saanich Peninsula, well posted route easy to follow, very flat and direct, very picturesque where it passes through farm lands  Good for the whole family and for touring cyclists.  If coming off ferry look for signs directing you over the highway on Lands End Road heading east then just follow the signs.
