The route is the only possible way how to get to the highest peak in Croatia by bike.

Eventhough you can ride on road-bike, I would recommend to use mountain-bike (I rented a bike in Makarska), especially due to some holes in road surface that you may face when going back down from the peak.

It took me approx. 3.5 hours (I did not have cycle-computer) to get on top of the hill Sv.Jura and tremendous effort was rewarded by many panoramatic views of the sea and coast underneath.

There is not many opportunities to buy water or food, so be aware of that. I had only 0,5 litre of water and 1 chocolate bar, which I found insufficient after 1/4 of the route. Thanks to some Hungarian people I got another 0,5 litre of water during the way...

There are a lot of cars going up as well, but believe me - after a mile or so, you stop noticing them, because you will have something to do - and the last 2 miles were the most difficult ones.

Road 512 was closed. We had to take the Adria Magistrale all the way. Trafic and rain........ Happily enaough we reached the ferry and could ride further on the quie peninsula Peljesac.
