Ride from the town of Bayeux ending at the start of Omaha Beach at Colleville-sur-Mer.

The ride passes the Commonwealth Cemetary near the town of Bazenville and visits Arromanches, where the remains of an artificial harbour brought from England for the D-Day landings is still visible.

The ride concludes at the American Cemetary at Colleville-sur-Mer, which was used in the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan.

This is the route that my sweetheart and I took to get to the D-Day American Cemetery. The bike ride to the cemetery isn't very difficult. The hills aren't very steep and it's mostly flat. On the way back however, there are many hills and some of them are pretty steep. We did this route with hefty winds, so it might be easier on a less windy day. Lovely views of the countryside, wonderful little towns to go through. Normandy by bike is a beautiful way to go.

Day 4 of the CTC Easter 11 expedition to Normandy led by Ian Barlow and based at the Hotel Bayeux in Bayeux. Day 4 was a gentle ride from Bayeux back from Bayeux to the ferry at Ouistreham.
