This ride is great in both directions! The hairpins

above Challes Les Eaux give this relatively short ride a

surprisingly mountainous character. The perfect ride

to unwind those travel legs.



From Challes we climb to the pinnacle of Mount

Cruet taking a brief detour to visit the small village and

Lake of La Thule for coffee. Then we press on for the

descent from the pass to the Combe de Savoie where

the views in a word are fabulous. Then through gently

rolling farmland and hillside Vineyards to our home

base in Challes.



A snappy ride to get the heart rate up. Mostly flat. One to clear the nostrils. (As Frank would say.)



Possibly THE most rewarding ride of the entire Tour. A 7 0km circuit of the Massif with a mid point high of around 1600metres with spectacular views of Frances largest natural Lake Le Lac Bourget.

Beginning with a sedate 10kms from Challes to

St.Alban Leysse where once again the climb begins. Approx 13 kms of steady climb and  switchbacks past the Ski facilities of La Feclaz and on to Le Revard where the view extends over the largest natural lake in

France Lac du Bourget. A break here to appreciate

your efforts before approx 20kms of wonderful

descent to the Lakeside community of Aix Les Bains and home.



This Circuit of the Grand Massif makes a welcome

return in 2011. Some fantastic alpine scenery on this lovely ride.
