Starting point at Amari Rincome Hotel on Nimmanhamin Road - take Sae Kaeow Road East to Intersection Canal Road (Dunkin Donuts) - right on Canal Road all the way to intersection with 107 - keep on straight on 121 - after crossing bridge over River Ping turn left on 5138 heading North - continue left on 1001 - after a longer but decent climb turn left at road sign "Mae Ngat Dam" - follow 1323 - at T-Intersection turn right to climb up the dam - enjoy the view there then go back down to the T-intersection - at Mae Tang join 107 Southbound - turn right at Mae Malai Intersection - when reaching intersection with 1095 go on straight into the small rural road 4254 and keep following it - take a right into 2142, then 3026, then left on 3010 - join 1096 coming down from Samoeng left - next right and somewhat later after a bridge right again - then follow until joining 107 once again - go left and do a U-Turn to head towards Chiang Mai again - at intersection with Canal Road and 121, make a right and follow Canal Road back to "Dunkin Donuts" Intersection turn left to go back to Amari Rincome Hotel

Classic Ride around the mountains of Chiang Mai:

From Chiang Mai take Canal Road South to Samoeng Intersection. Then enter the valley in Eastern direction eventually starting to climb. After km 35 and reaching an altitude of approx 800 m, several steep switchbacks will take you down to about 550 m above sea level. The next climb is 5 kms and 400 m climb.

After the next downhill of about 2 km, take a right turn direction Mae Rim and do the third and final climb.

You will be rewarded with a nice and extended downhill.

At km 69 turn right, and at km 71 - after crossing a bridge - again right. Then follow the road along the river until you reach highway 107. U-turn there and follow direction Chiang Mai then at km 78 turn right at the traffic lights to follow Canal Road back to Chiang Mai.

A really challenging ride from Chiang Mai: be ready for 200 km and about 2.400 m climbing, partly super steep!

But you'll be rewarded with some really amazing landscapes far off the beaten tracks!

Chiang Mai - Canal Road - turn right at km 25, before Canal Road does a sharp 90° left bend - go into Mae Khan National Park and do the loop there including a short steep climb to the temple - join 1013 to Mae Wan and Mae Win - start climbing the first pass @ approx km 67 - turn left @ intersection km 80 - enjoy the natural beauty of the high valley with some minor climbs for the next 10 km - then hit the next steep one through a forest - after another short descend start to climb the final bit: 450 m climb in about 5 km.

The descend down to the intersection with 1009 coming down from Doi Inthanon is still in quite a bad state even though some road work has been done already.

But the next 24 km down to the gateway to Doi Inthanon National Park are pure pleasure, a real fast downhill on a nice road. Beware of some more narrow bents if you're speeding though.

In Chom Thong take highway 108 North to San Patong and turn left to go back to Chiang Mai on Canal Road once again.

Chiang Mai, Royal Orchid Hotel - Ban Mea Keu - Choeng Doi - Mae Pong Hot Springs - San Kam  Phaeng - Chiang Mai

Nice, less trafficked road along the Ping river.

Don't miss the duck noodle soup foodstall, when you enter Nong Tong,Rd.1015 left hand side.

Starting at Amari Rincome Hotel, Chiang Mai, following some nice side roads parallel to Chan Khlong (Canal Road), entering Samoeng Road, go to Samoeng, back up the same way, but then the "Classical" following to Mae Rim, but take side road before entering Mae Rim City and take a ride back on Canal Road again.

Tracked with Cycle Maps @ Blackberry (Garmin low on battery)

From Nawarat Bridge on Ping River head West to Northern side of old city moat. Carry on West up Huai Kaeo Road.

At the Chiang Mai Zoo the climb begins in earnest. 700m up to Doi Suthep, 11km. Another 4km to Bhuping Palace. After that the road narrows to single track to reach Doi Pui peak at 1,590m.

After peak, the road becomes dirt and starts going down. After 2-3km from peak you will hit a small valley where there is a coffee plantation. A rustick shack provides fantastic locally roasted coffee. From theron, you are rewarded by a 13km decline down to Huay Tung Tao reservoir. Follow the Canal Road and turn left at Huai Kaew Road to head into town.

A good 4-5 hour ride, around 1,250m climbing
