A quiet country road route away from tourist traffic using mainly lanes and minor roads. Mildly hilly but as flat as it can be in Cornwall.
Over a thousand miles of mixed busy A roads and secluded lanes with passing places, taking a route through some of mainland Britains most spectacular scenery. Flat lowlands, stunning coasts, mountain passes and wild, remote moors are included in this version of the ultimate British cycle ride.

This is Day1 of a 17 day LEJOG completed by me in 2010 shortly after my 65th birthday. Based on my edited Garmin 705 data it generally follows the 15 day CTC YHA route and the Alan Pewsey group's 2003 based GPX data going via Arran and preferring quiet roads plus some new cyclepaths to avoid A-roads if possible (unless this was the most sensible option). My wife drove the back up car and mostly we only met up at the end of each day. Our accommodation and evening meal costs varied from cheap (Premier Inn meal deals) to expensive (Sanquhar and Port Appin).
I have no hesitation in recommending my route unless you want to ride a fast LEJOG. This LEJOG goes via Belmont and Blackburn though the latest CTC YHA route from Chester to Slaidburn goes via Chorley which might be preferable.
The current CTC YHA route goes through Carnon Downs but I prefered Devoran. Rather than going to Golant, my Day1 ends with a long climb to Lanlivery up a narrow country lanes. Probably prepared me for Day2.
This route takes the A30 from Lands End to Okehampton. I dont recommend this route to cyclists after reaching Penzance. The A30 is far too busy and dangerous and I'd recommend taking smaller roads.
Hilly North Cornish coast route. Start Sennen, out to Land's End. Finish Treyarnon Bay youth hostel.

First day of the LEJOG tour going via Penzance and Newquay along the north coast.
Having driven the A30 I edited the route slightly avoiding the A30 around Penzance and going more into Penzance itself.
From what I can remember it is hilliest between Newquay and Tintagel.
