Routes in United States / North Carolina / Durham

This is the route I take to go to work from the Colonial Village neighborhood down to my job in Meridian Parkway, which is right outside of RTP. It's a great ride an mostly on the greenway system that includes the American Tobacco Trail and the Ellerbee Creek Trail. Some public roads are traveled but for short distances on those roads. Overall, a great ride!

Trying out the new bike seat for our 6 mo old!  Stopped at Northgate Park to swing.

I've drawn this clockwise only to increase the likelihood of riding some mid-day miles with a NW wind, but it can be ridden in the ccw direction according to existing weather conditions and druthers - like I druther not go up Parker Mtn the hard way early in the AM.  As previously advertises, the rout goes way north of the lake to avoid pilgrims and other tourists on narrow RT 25 across the north end of the lake.  There are various ways to revise this route.

Short 11 mile ride, great views of Great Bay, nice rollers, low traffic. Adams point as a potential stop, as well as downtown Newmarket and downtown Durham.

Route is revised with John Nachilly's suggestions.

I will send out extensive notes via  email.

Rt 4 to Newington, Greenland, Post Rd to N.Hampton to Hampton on some roads you've never been on, to Exeter, Stratham, Newmarket, home

Counter-clockwise route avoiding some of the hills, but finding a few new roads.  One stretch of so-so dirt: 3/10 mile in Raymond.

This is a clockwise route.  The Nottingham section of the Deerfield-Nottingham Road is new pavement, and the bridge reconstruction is done.  If anyone wants to zip out to Parker and back or out 2nd Crown point and back in 1st CP, those options exist.  This is a First Saturday of the Month ride, so we keep the pace a bit more relaxed to encourage any new riders who would like to join us.

This route takes us over familiar terrain.  back rd to gulf to elliot along the water then turn up to york. back 103 to newcastle to pease and home..  Could not connect the last point

Clockwise to the beach and all the way down to the state line at Rt 286. then inland through Seabrook, Hampton Falls to Guinea Rd and familiar roads back home.  This is on the long side in order to show you some new roads, but we can shorten in Hampton if we feel like it.

Counter-clockwise so we can do Parker the hard way.

From Durham Community Church into Durham and then out Mill Road.  Then clockwise loop on Packers Falls, New Road, Routes 85 & 87, Bald Hill, Tuttle and Route 152 up to Lee.  Return to Durham via Wednesday Hill, Jenkins and Mill Road...

20 mile loop from Durham, taking in both Packers Falls and Wadleigh Falls Rd.  Hopefully, traffic won't be too much of an issue.

Clockwise, 13 towns, two counties.

Counter-clockwise, one mile of dirt (good dirt!), hills.

Clockwise, not as much elevation gain as last week, but still moderately hilly. No dirt unless we run into construction.

Metric Century (100km) from Durham. Would love to tell you about the views but it was foggy!

1 hour loop

a 7% climb then basically downhill all the way home

Clockwise, somewhat hilly, but not extreme.  Two sections of dirt can be avoided if it's  wet.  Follows a few roads we don't often use.

The intent of this route is to provide a singlespeed-friendly, fifty-ish mile route.

Clockwise through Dover, down the River Road to Kittery, over to PoTown, past the Wentworth to Rye, the turn for home.

The infamous pig route! Plenty of climbing and particularly nice ride in the fall!

Clockwise across the General Sullivan on the new bike path approach, thence to Hampton and home via Stratham.

20-mile loop that can be started at Oyster River HS, downtown Durham, etc.  Best ridden early AM before traffic is too serious since it follows routes 155 and 9.

Ascend over Nottingham's big hill and then meander back to Durham

Hilly route over Parker and Catamount. with some fun around Bow Lake at the end.

THe Entire New Hampshire Seacoast

Flat early, then seriously hilly.

65 mile Beach Ride from Durham via Portsmouth and Newcastle to Hampton Beach. Down and back to Hampton on Rt 1A Snack stop along the beach then return via Washington St - Breakfast Hill and Rt 33, Squamscott Rd to Newmarket and Durham.

Slightly more climbing than what was planned for, but that's OK.

There is a mile-long dirt section on this ride, near Bow Lake.  This was rideable on a road bike.
