Routes in United States / South Dakota / Gettysburg
You leave town by heading west down Washington St and out the Mummasburg road winding your way up to the high country where you start running into the apple orchards.
There are two options (110Km and 88Km) in cue sheets for you. The 110Km extension is an area that we have not yet explored but I must say the road names look interesting!
We've also marked the maps to indicate options that would shorten the loop and give you more ideas on how to customize your own loop.
In all these routes you have an option of joining up with the Mummasburg road earlier which you might like if you want to get in that top gear and beat it into town for a beer.
If you want to get into some hills fast and leave the tourists behind, this is your quickest escape! Marion and I have explored most parts of the Mount Carmel Loop but the Mount Hope Loop is new and a bit of an exploratory. The Old Forge Road on the other side of the mountain looks really interesting and meanders through a forest ... and of course its always fun to go up and then come down a mountain!
