I got dropped off in Carpinteria, rode up Casitas Pass Rd to the highest point and then rode back to Santa Barbara on route 192. (Cycling clubs in Santa Barbara like to do this as a proper round trip from downtown, which makes it a 40-50 mile ride.) The climbs on Casitas Pass Rd, of which there are two, are generally gradual, never over 5% probably.
