Routes in United States / California / Redwood City
Nice Mountain Bike track starting from Skeggs Point.
This is not a beginner's track! It has some steep technical climbs and difficult downhills.
Woodside Road
Skyline
Page Mill
Arastradero
Portola
Kings Mountain
Woodside Rd.
This is an intermediate but relatively short bike route to go up Skyline and down. About 2000-2500 feet total elevation gain. Very shady in summer, relatively low traffic. It's a good route for those who are just able to go up skyline. Woodside Elementary school is the staging area.

A classic Bay area climb: Kings Mountain was featured in the Low-Key Hillclimbs in 1995, 1996, 1997 (canceled due to weather), 2007, and is on the schedule for 2011.
The Low-Key Hillclimb starts at Greer, although the climb actually begins at the intersection with Entranceway. To the finish at the stop sign at Skyline, Kings is an excellent climb for timing, and is second only to Old La Honda Road for that purpose. The grade is relatively steady with enough variation to keep things interesting but never steep enough for distress. There's plenty of switchbacks to mix things up.
The first segment is to the Huddart Park entrance. This is a bit better paved and has more car traffic. Beyond here the road slightly narrows and traffic is reduced: more bikes than cars, clearly. The road finally straightens out for the run to the finish: when you see the horse crossing sign you know you're close.
This starts out straight uphill, then is pretty and winding downhill, then one big uphill, then gentle hills.
The last half is extremely steep. You only do this ride to build your heart/lung capacity, not for pleasure. ; )

Training ride for building up to the 2010 Stage 3 Tour De California segment. Also, altered start location, but ends up being pretty similar in distance and climb.
Quick almost useless MotionX App Test.
Training ride using a segment of for 2010 Stage 3 Tour De California. Start location will be slightly altered from where I'm staying in San Mateo.
