A 42-mile loop, about half of it through the hills of Williamsburg, Whately, and Conway. The rest is pretty flat. 1400 feet total elevation gained. I started from my house but a visitor should start at the parking lot for the Norwottuck Rail Trail, on Damon Road in Northampton, around mile 5/km 8 of the ride. To return, instead of turning on Stockbridge Road, continue south on Route 47 (River Road) in Hadley, then when you pass Stockwell Road (at the North Hadley Sugar Shack), follow miles 2-5. Restrooms at Look Park in Leeds (within Northampton, about 5 miles after the parking lot). You'll pass several convenience stores early and late in the ride. Soft-serve ice cream is available toward the end of the ride at a couple locations on Route 47. The hilly parts of the ride are mostly rural with not much traffic, though you'll encounter many cyclists if the weather is good.
