Routes in United States / New York / New York

Ein gerader Kurs mit einer 6,5 km langen Zielgeraden. Das ganze auch nch in den Häuserschluchten von Manhattan. Die Zielgeraden führt u. a. direkt am Empire State Building vorbei.

I did this biketour in September 2008. I started from my home in Harlem and went down the Hudson River Bikepath, then over Brooklyn Bridge and through Prospect Park, down the Ocean Parkway (Bikepath) to Coney Island and from there to Far Rockaway Beach. The backroute was over Bayridge (waterfront), Sunset Park and Park Slope. Most of the tour is ona bikepath. It's superflat and you can do the whole tour on a racebike as well. I would then just use the street instead of the bumpy Ocean Parkway Bikepath. The bikepath from Verrazano Bridge to Sunset Park is one great bike highway. Great to ride and see the sunset.

Far Rockaway Beach is the perfect biketour chillout. In September it's warm enough to have a nice refreshing bath in the ocean.

Have fun, Verena :)

Part 1 of 4 of my NYC -> Harrisburg route.

Taken from http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/NYC-GWB-Ft-Lee-to-Newark-NJ-2008

This route is useful because it doesn't require a trip between Jersey City and Newark.  On the other hand, it's significantly longer than PATH to Exchange Place, bike to Newark.

This has been routed from BikeMap.net maps. I'll be publishing an "on the ground" map soon ..

Once every year some of the main streets of New York City are reserved for cyclists. The adventure starts in Lower Manhattan. You'll head north through the heart of Manhattan to Central Park and continue on to historic Harlem and the Bronx, returning south along the East River on the FDR Drive. From there you'll cross into Queens and then Brooklyn, where cyclists take over the highway before making the thrilling climb up--and down--the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to Staten Island. The route is 42 miles, mostly flat except for the bridges
