Routes in United States / New York / Rochester

This route connects RIT, U of R and Downtown Rochester and, except for a few street crossings and the stretch through the U of R is dedicated and beautiful bikepath.

If all goes well, it will be part of the the future Rochester Greenway.  See http://RochesterGreenway.org.

Very Hilly (steep) and lots of rollers. Some of these roads are a staple of the Highlander Tour in Fall.

Douglas trail to Pine Island, roads to Mendota.

  • Both Middlebury Gap and the Brandon Gap are extremely steep at the top. The way I did it (counterclockwise) you hit 11% average on the last 1 km to the top of the Middlebury Gap and another 11% over the last 1.5 km to the top of the Brandon Gap.
  • When I rode it (22 July 2010) road work was under way on the western side of the Middlebury Gap creating 20 km of unpaved road.

  • Upper Plains road is unpaved.
  • Branbury State Park on Lake Dunmore is an excellent place to relax and swim.

Regular route of the Rochester Early Risers. Some good climbs and nice scenery, fairly low traffic.

Slightly longer and challenging route. Good scenery, low traffic and a white-knuckle descent into Milton Mills!

A little shy of the metric century, only about 94Km but a scenic and challenging ride.

Charlie B led a group of us on this route in summer of 2009. Its an epic ride that mixes serious challenge with incredible scenery.

Parking at the USFS station is ample and free and traffic is manageable across the entire route.

Make sure you save some energy for the Appalachian Gap climb that comes about mile 80, its a challenge. The descent that follows is a challenge as well, speeds in excess of 50 are easily acheivable.

One of the more memorable rides I have completed in New England.

Preferred loop that climbs Parker Mountain, mimizes time on route 28, and includes the climb up the back side of New Durham Ridge.

Challenging but fun!

Felt like a lot of uphill... the bridge was killer... bou I am out of shape! First of many, I hope.. Maybe get a new bike or fix dad's old one? that's not so bad.. Maybe.

More to come.

Standard Fernald Shores loop with the return via Lebanon which includes a second headwall as the route turns left by the Milton damn and heads back toward Shapleigh road.

Tough ride to get in on a morning ride (except for Craiger) as it is on the high-side of 25 from the shop...

A little shy of the metric century, only about 94Km but a scenic and challenging ride.
