Routes in United States / Ohio / Oxford
Route from Oxford Railway Station to John Radcliffe Hospital mainly using cycle paths and quiet roads. This route is probably not suitable at night as it includes substantial off-road unlit sections. It also uses a cycle path across the University Park which is closed on certain days of the year (New Year /Christmas Day?)
Simple route, quiet roads (minus Kiddlington and Oxford city centres) and good quality paving. Winds were rarely bad to me on this route too. Probably good for a recovery ride if you turn round before the Deddington hills.
For safety's sake, when you turn in Banbury, do so down Horton view. This is the last road before a set of traffic lights further down into Banbury.
Takes around 2 Hours to complete.
Nice route that seems to feel like it's almost all downhill. Almost though, as strong cross/head winds occur on the flats from Abingdon to Brighthampton - although these are not constant for that part of the course.
Abingdon and Witney do slow you down with traffic filters and the roads in these towns leave a lot to be desired. While I liked the break (I used this course for endurance work above my lactate threshold, basically splitting Abingdon>Witney and Witney>Kiddlington into two separate runs.) you can avoid Abingdon and the trouble spots in Witney by going through Foxcombe Hill and Hardwick>Sutton>South Leigh respectively.
Also, the roundabouts before Hinksey Hill are stressfull, just ride through this part as quickly as possible.
Takes around 2 hours to complete.
100k+ loop, from Oxford mostly flat except the climb to Brill.
Oxford to North Loburn (or the other way if you like)
