Construction on Washington Avenue occasioned some minor route changes; the upper level of the bridge is still available to bikes and pedestrians. The major variations: (a) take West Mississippi River Pkwy to the Greenway [longer, but pretty on a nice day]; (b) Take Cedar south, and join the Hiawatha Trail at the Franklin Rail Station [shorter, but can be bad traffic]; (c) take the Greenway all the way to Lake Calhoun and come around BOTH lakes [longer, but pretty; sometimes lots of pedestrian traffic]
The route as displayed is pretty agreeable; 10 blocks on Bryant Avenue, but traffic is usually not bad enough to make that unpleasant. The trip CAN be made with only a few blocks on streets, if one has a bit of extra time.
