CP Rail Trail: Owen Sound to Orangeville

Looking for a long, relaxed gravel ride? This point-to-point rail trail links Owen Sound to Orangeville across rural Ontario. It’s about 112 km of continuous cycleway, almost entirely unpaved—mostly firm gravel with a short stretch of looser stuff. Grades stay gentle the whole way, with more descending as you roll south toward Orangeville, so it’s great for steady cruising.

Bring a gravel or hybrid bike with wider tires for comfort. You can ride the full length in a day, split it over a weekend, or sample shorter sections—navigation is simple, just follow the trail. Expect quiet countryside and wide-open views between communities, so plan water and snacks. The surface changes a bit here and there, but it’s generally fast and friendly when dry.
