Phoenix Tempe Scottsdale

This bike loop begins and ends in Phoenix, right at the beautiful Arizona Falls. You’ll find G.R. Herberger Park right next to the falls, with parking and restrooms for you. The route takes you east along the Arizona Canal until you reach the Crosscut Canal. From there, you’ll pedal south to Tempe Town Lake. As you ride along Tempe Town Lake, the bike path heads north on the Scottsdale Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt. The Indian Bend Wash crosses the Arizona Canal, and you’ll ride west along the canal back to where you started.

Here are some cool sights you might see on this bike route:

• Arizona Falls - This 20-foot drop along the Arizona Canal between 56th and 58th streets is a local favorite and also a hydroelectric plant that powers 150 homes.
• Tempe Town Lake - This over 2-mile-long lake was formed by creating a reservoir in a section of the dry Salt River and adding water.
• Scottsdale Indian Bend Greenbelt - This greenbelt is a paradise of parks, lakes, paths, and golf courses, stretching 11 miles through the heart of Scottsdale. It boasts more than 24 grade-separated crossings, so you can easily dodge heavy traffic. This famous flood control project is considered one of Arizona’s best urban “green spaces.”
• Scottsdale Solstice Park - This park features a bridge and other artistic designs by architect Paolo Soleri on a small area on the south bank of the Arizona Canal, just southwest of Camelback and Scottsdale roads.
