CDTE (Costa Daurada / Terres de L'Ebre): Route 9

This is a gorgeous, mountainous, expert-level route, in the Prades Mountain range.  It is long in distance, and high in elevation gain! Starting in Montblanc, the route gets the biggest climb finished first, climbing over 1000m towards Prades, descending towards Ulldemolins, then climbing again to Les Crestes de la Llena.  After 30km of mostly downhill mountain roads, we climb again, for over 13km, from Vielha Baixa to La Morera de Montsant. After a short descent with stunning views over the reservoir at Siurana, we begin the 12km climb to La Mussara, and the second summit at Capafonts. The road across the Prades Mountains here never seems to stay flat, rolling up and down. It is only once we reach El Pinetel that we get to descend, only to reach La Riba and begin a bit of a low-gradient drag back up to Montblanc.
