Well .... as you can guess from my UserID here I'm a 59er - so 60 years old now ;-)

Being born in Würzburg/Bavaria and grown up in a smaller village close by I finally studied Physics at the University of Würzburg - you might know that the first time X-rays were detected by Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen there in 1895 (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_Conrad_R%C3%B6ntgen)

When I entered professional life I started with IBM in the area of magnetic disc recording manufacturing in Mainz/Rhineland-Palatinate/Germany where I stayed for almost 35 years with various missions until I now "retired". During those years we moved our home location to Stein-Bockenheim a small "600 people village" between Alzey, Bad Kreuznach and Mainz (https://stein-bockenheim.de).

While I was an enthusiastic soccer player in my early years I stated to do bicycling already in parallel and I kept this hobby until today.

My personal highlights with this hobby were great multiple day tours from Stein Bockenheim to Barcelona in 2015 and from Santander in the North of Spain back to Stein Bockenheim in 2017. In 2018 we made a bike trip across the Alps starting in Munich via the Brenner, Verona, Bergamo, Lago Maggiore and then passing the Simplon pass to Switzerland and along the river Rhone to lake Geneva. Many thanks to my wife who always accompanied us with our VW-Bully and greatly arranged all around hotels, lunch breaks, etc.
