Borna-Grimma Bike Route
A cycling tour with 3 stages, starting in Bad Lausick, Saxony, Germany.
Overview
About this tour
Quiet backroads and farm tracks link Großbothen (Grimma) with Borna in Saxony. Expect a mix of smooth asphalt and long gravel stretches through fields, woods, and the Mulde valley. It’s rolling rather than flat, with a few short climbs (around 170 m up overall). Near Borna, the landscape shifts toward the Neuseenland lakes from former mining, with wide views.
Best on a gravel or trekking bike; sturdy hybrids are fine. Skinny-tyre road bikes may struggle on the rougher bits. Surfaces range from paved lanes to compacted and some loose gravel.
Traffic is low for most of the route—mainly farm tracks and quiet roads—so it’s a relaxed spin in either direction. Stock up in Grimma/Großbothen before you roll, and cafés await in Borna. After rain, expect a few soft sections.
Ride it as a short point-to-point or link it with Mulde-Radweg sections around Grimma for a longer day. Simple to navigate, local scenery, and a nice city-to-country crossover.
