Falls Lake Trail - Part 2

Cycling route in Wake Forest, North Carolina, United States

START: Raven Ridge Road NOTE: The starting point has good possibilities for parking. Ā  END: Possum Track Road NOTE: The end point is shown in this track does not allow for parking, but a few yards up the road near the Bridge are good possibilities. Ā  This Part can be split into two if more convenient. Either way a very nice track with a few bridges in between. In this part the forest is certainly the focus since the track passes the lake in quite a distance. But therefore the changing forrest type is interresting and shows needle as well as leaf trees. In this particular case we used just one car and walked back to the starting point.

Falls Lake Trail - Part 1

Cycling route in Wake Forest, North Carolina, United States

START: Falls of Neuse - Parking Lot NOTE: We considered the Parking Lot to be starting point. It gives very limited space for parking but consideringĀ the gates are closing rather early, this is for sure a good spot to leave the car. Ā  END: Raven Ridge Road NOTE: Good spot to park available. Ā  Very nice track, that leads first to the Falls Dam Visitor centre. Once here it is for sure worth taking the little extra mile to the dam and back. Especially in the afternoon during sunset it is a nice spot for a little barbecue. Moving on from the visitor centre the track goes past the lake and gives a few nice ups and downs. Very interesting is the lake around end of January, when hundreds of birds are stopping at the lake, chasing each other and diving into the lake to fish.
