Cycling day trip from Tsuen Wan to Yuen Long Kau Hui

This cycling route takes you from bustling Tsuen Wan, nestled at the foot of Tai Mo Shan, all the way up to the historic Yuen Long Kau Hui. The ride spans about 34 km and is not for the faint-hearted—you’ll be climbing well over 1,300 meters in elevation, so expect some serious hill work along the way! Parts of the route soar close to 500 meters above sea level, offering some awesome views if you catch your breath and look around.

You’ll be weaving through a mix of busy and quieter roads, with the occasional stretch on smaller access roads. There are paved and asphalt sections, but quite a bit of the surface type is a mystery, so a bit of adventure awaits—something for those who like a surprise or two!

Tsuen Wan is known for its vibrant shopping malls and local eateries, so fuel up before you start. When you roll into Yuen Long Kau Hui, you’ll find yourself in one of the New Territories’ oldest market towns, packed with traditional shops and tasty local snacks—a perfect spot to chill after a challenging ride.
