Cycling day trip from Tsuen Wan to Tuenmen

This cycling route takes you from Tsuen Wan, a bustling New Territories district known for its lively food scene and waterfront promenade, all the way to Tuen Mun, a west coast hub famous for beaches and parks like the picturesque Butterfly Beach.

You'll cover a solid 58 km, so be ready for a ride that’s equal parts scenic and challenging. The route has a lot of ups and downs (almost 2,000 meters of ascent!), so it’s a good one if you’re looking to work those legs. Most of the trail is a mix of quiet roads and secondary access roads, with only short stretches on busy roads.

A fair bit of the route’s surface is unclassified, which means you might hit patches that are less polished or even a bit rough; there’s also a decent amount of asphalt and some concrete areas, so a reliable road or hybrid bike is best. Make sure to bring plenty of water, especially on sunny days, and don’t forget to take in the rolling hills and views as you approach Tuen Mun!
