Cycling day trip from Tuenmen to Yuen Long Kau Hui

This route takes you from Tuen Mun, a lively new town known for its beaches and harbors in Hong Kong’s Northwest New Territories, up to Yuen Long Kau Hui, the historic heart of Yuen Long filled with markets and traditional villages.

The ride is just under 31 km and features a good bit of climbing (around 649 meters ascent, topping out at around 345 meters)—enough to give your legs a workout but nothing too extreme for regular cyclists. Most of your journey is on quiet roads and paths, weaving through a mix of rural landscapes, farmland, and quieter town edges. Expect a variety of surfaces—some sections are paved or asphalt, while others might be rougher, so a hybrid or gravel bike would be the best bet.
