Sai Kung to Shatin Cycling Route

This is a fantastic ride starting in the laid-back seaside town of Sai Kung—known for its fresh seafood and vibrant waterfront—before weaving your way west to the bustling New Town of Shatin. The route covers roughly 26 km, so you’ll want to set aside a few good hours to take it easy and soak up the views.

Along the way, you’ll tackle about 650 meters of ascent, so expect a few climbs—nothing too extreme, but you’ll definitely feel it in your legs! Much of the route runs on dedicated cycleways and quiet roads, with some stretches on busier sections—so keep alert, especially where traffic thickens.

You’ll pass by reservoirs, green hills, and plenty of urban landscapes as you approach Shatin, famous for its shopping centres, river views, and the peaceful Shing Mun River cycling path. The mix of paved surfaces makes it suitable for most bikes, but there are a few “mystery” stretches where the surface isn’t specified, so a bit of adventure is part of the package.
