Cycling day trip from McLaren Vale to Meadows

This ride takes you from the heart of South Australia’s wine region, McLaren Vale, through lush rolling hills up to the charming little town of Meadows. Starting out in McLaren Vale, famous for its world-class wineries and relaxed countryside vibe, you’ll pedal eastwards, leaving vineyards behind and swapping grapevines for gum trees as the ascent begins.

The route is mostly on quiet rural roads, so expect some peace and space to enjoy the scenery. With over 660 meters of climbing, it’s a great workout—but the rewards are plentiful! You’ll get sweeping views over the Fleurieu Peninsula and may spot plenty of native wildlife along the way. Keep in mind that about 70% of the surface types aren’t fully documented, but what’s known is mostly paved and asphalt—so a road or gravel bike is ideal.
