Cycling day trip from Oksbøl to Hvide Sande

Roll out from Oksbøl and aim for the West Coast Cycle Route (Vestkystruten/National Route 1). It’s a super-flat coastal ride of about 62 km with only ~60 m of climbing, so you can settle into an easy rhythm. You’ll thread through dunes and plantations around Blåbjerg, pass Henne Strand, and cross Nymindegab onto the narrow Holmsland Klit. From there it’s classic two-seas scenery: Ringkøbing Fjord to your right, the North Sea to your left, all the way up to Hvide Sande.

The route is mostly on dedicated cycleways and quiet tracks; around 85% is paved, with some stretches of gravel and a bit of loose stuff, so wider tires are nice but not essential. It’s exposed, so expect wind to be a factor.

Before leaving, Oksbøl is home to FLUGT – Refugee Museum of Denmark, set in historic camp buildings. At the finish, Hvide Sande greets you with one of Denmark’s largest fishing harbors, the lock between fjord and sea, fresh fish smokehouses, and surf vibes. If you’ve got a little extra in the legs, Lyngvig Lighthouse is just north for a panoramic payoff.
