Cycling day trip from Schaffhausen to Basel

This long but scenic cycling route takes you from the charming town of Schaffhausen, famous for the roaring Rhine Falls (the biggest waterfall in Switzerland), all the way to Basel, a vibrant city on the Rhine, known for its blend of Swiss, French, and German cultures—a perfect finish!

The ride covers just under 120 km, mostly on quiet roads, paths, and cycleways, with only a small portion of gravel. As you roll out from Schaffhausen, expect some gentle climbs (totaling about 1,100 meters of ascent), balanced out by more descent as you approach Basel. The route snakes along the picturesque Swiss countryside, passing through tranquil villages, lush forests, and plenty of riverside riding.
