Bikepacking from Andermatt to Meiringen

This ride is a true Alpine adventure! Starting in Andermatt, a charming village known as a crossroads of the Swiss Alps (and a hotspot for train enthusiasts), you’ll pedal northbound toward Meiringen, the hometown of meringues and the legendary Reichenbach Falls (yes, the place where Sherlock Holmes had his fateful encounter).

The route is a real challenge—nearly 200 km with over 5,000 meters of climbing! Expect to tackle some serious ascents and descents as you swoop through breathtaking valleys, pass mountain lakes, and traverse high passes (pack some layers, it gets chilly up high).

You’ll spend most of your time on peaceful roads, but there’s a handful of gravel sections to keep things spicy—nothing too technical. Keep an eye out for waterfalls and cinematic mountain views. Don’t miss a break in Meiringen for a taste of their namesake sweet treat!

This route isn’t for the faint-hearted, but if you’re up for it, it’s Switzerland at its wildest and most beautiful.
