By bicycle from Stockholm to Älta

Ready for a scenic ride out of Stockholm? This cycling route starts right in the heart of Sweden’s vibrant capital, famous for its beautiful waterways and historic city center. You’ll head south-east, leaving the urban bustle behind as you follow mostly smooth, paved cycleways—perfect for a relaxed ride.

The 15 km journey takes just over an hour at an easy pace. Expect some gentle climbs, with an overall ascent of about 240 meters, but nothing too grueling. Most of the route rolls along dedicated cycle paths, so it’s safe and mostly away from traffic. As you leave Stockholm, you’ll wind your way past lush parks and peaceful residential areas before arriving in Älta, a tranquil suburb known for its proximity to the beautiful lakes and forests of Nacka Nature Reserve.
