By bicycle from Elst to Arnhem

This is a great little ride from Elst to Arnhem—about 10.8 km, so it’s perfect for a relaxed morning outing or a scenic commute! You’ll roll out of Elst, a charming Gelderland town known for its Roman temple ruins and cozy town center. The route is super friendly for cyclists, mostly running on dedicated cycleways (about 90%), so you can really enjoy the countryside without much traffic.

You’ll glide through the flat Dutch landscape, passing farm fields and probably spotting a few grazing sheep along the way. The surface is smooth and pleasant, with the majority paved or asphalt, so it’s easy rolling all the way.

As you approach Arnhem, keep an eye out for the city’s green parks and the lush banks of the Rhine nearby. Arnhem itself is known for its role in WWII (“A Bridge Too Far”), lively cultural scene, and lovely shops & cafes. With hardly any serious hills, the ride is accessible for all.
