Cycling day trip from Schwechat to Bratislava

This scenic cycling route takes you from Schwechat, just southeast of Vienna and home to Austria’s busiest airport, all the way to the vibrant city of Bratislava, Slovakia. The ride is about 72 km long and is mostly flat, with gentle ascents and descents totaling around 320 m each—perfect for a long day trip or a leisurely adventure.

You’ll enjoy mostly paved surfaces, with smooth asphalt making up the bulk of the ride, and more than half the route is on dedicated cycleways. Expect peaceful stretches along the Danube, small picturesque villages, and open countryside as you cruise towards Slovakia. There are a few unpaved and gravel patches, but nothing too technical.

Finishing in Bratislava, you’ll roll into the Slovak capital, famous for its medieval Old Town and lively riverside cafés.
