Cycling day trip from Nauders to Naturns

This is a classic high-alpine adventure: Starting in Nauders, perched near the tripoint of Austria, Italy, and Switzerland, you’ll roll south into one of the most scenic stretches of the Alps. The route to Naturns covers about 75 km—mostly on quiet roads and smooth cycleways—so you’ll have plenty of time to soak up breathtaking mountain views and picturesque villages.

From Nauders, known for its historic fortress and strategic mountain pass, you begin with steady uphills and hit a max elevation of about 1,550 meters before an exhilarating descent. With almost twice as much downhill as up, your legs will thank you! The route is primarily paved, but watch for some stretches of gravel as you approach the lush valleys of South Tyrol.

You’ll roll into Naturns, which sits at the doorway to the Vinschgau Valley, famous for its vineyards, apple orchards, and sunny microclimate. Refuel on classic Italian gelato or a cappuccino—the perfect reward after conquering the alpine heights!
