Bikepacking from Landeck to Mals

Get ready for an epic ride from Landeck, Austria, to Mals in Italy—this isn’t your everyday spin! Your journey stretches over 334 km, carving through the heart of the Alps and climbing nearly 5,900 meters before you drop down again toward the South Tyrolean valleys.

You start in Landeck, a charming Tyrolean town known as a gateway to Alpine adventures, with castles perched up high and rivers weaving through the valley floor. From there, you roll mostly on smooth asphalt, with about 90% of the way paved and plenty of quiet cycleways, so you can focus on views instead of traffic. The ride is varied, with some challenging climbs—a true test of your legs—but the Alpine scenery more than makes up for the effort.

After a lot of high-country pedaling and fast descents, you’ll arrive in Mals, a beautiful village famous for its medieval towers and organic farming, right at the doorstep of the Vinschgau Valley. Treat yourself to some local apples or a fresh Italian espresso—you’ve earned it!
