Route template
This scenic ride starts in Bad Aussee, a charming spa town nestled in the heart of Austria’s Salzkammergut region, famous for its traditional festivals and salt-mining history. From there, you’ll cycle about 21 kilometers through gentle hills and lush valley landscapes, topping out at just over 1000 meters in elevation along the way. Expect a good mix of surfaces: plenty of smooth asphalt, but also some gravel stretches—just enough to keep things interesting!
The route follows mostly quiet roads, winding through forests and alongside streams, with a bit of descent as you get closer to your destination. Eventually, you’ll roll into Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee, another picturesque spa town. Bad Goisern is a gateway to the legendary Hallstatt region and is well-known for its outdoor activities and as the home of the legendary Salzkammergut Trophy mountain bike race.
It’s an ideal ride for those who want postcard-worthy views, some decent climbs, and a taste of Austrian alpine culture—bring your camera and maybe stop for cake at a café in either town!
