By bicycle from Tinnum to Westerland

This friendly, nearly 4 km ride takes you from the village charm of Tinnum to the lively seaside vibe of Westerland on the island of Sylt. Starting in Tinnum, known for its grassy fields and historic Tinnumburg rampart, you’ll glide mostly on smooth asphalt and quiet roads, making it perfect for a leisurely spin or a relaxed commute.

The route is almost entirely paved and mostly flat—just a gentle ascent and descent—so it’s easygoing whether you’re on a city bike or something speedier. About a third of the journey takes you along paths, adding a bit of variety, with the last stretch possibly weaving into pedestrian areas as you near Westerland. Once you arrive, you’ll find yourself close to Sylt’s longest beach, bustling cafes, and the famous seaside promenade.
