By bicycle from Senden to Lüdinghausen

Ready for a laid-back Münsterland ride? Start out in Senden, a charming town along the Dortmund-Ems Canal, known for its lovely moated castle and easygoing village vibe. From there, you’ll set off south toward Lüdinghausen—famed for its trio of castles, including the beautiful Vischering Castle surrounded by a perfect moat.

This 16 km route keeps things mellow, mostly sticking to quiet country roads and gentle paved paths. With only a gentle rise and fall (hardly 30 meters up and down), you shouldn’t break much of a sweat! Expect smooth cycling on a mix of asphalt and hard-packed gravel, passing through peaceful farmland and fields typical of the Münsterland region.

As you cruise closer to Lüdinghausen, keep an eye out for the classic Westphalian brick architecture and, if you have time, take a loop around the castle park for a perfect ride ending. It’s a lovely, easy route for anyone looking to enjoy a bit of local scenery between two historic towns—don’t forget your camera!
