Bikepacking from Regensburg to Passau

Get ready for a fantastic ride from the UNESCO World Heritage city of Regensburg to the charming city of Passau, right at the border with Austria! This route is a true Danube classic, stretching just over 150 km mostly on paved and quiet country roads, perfect for a leisurely touring pace. You'll follow much of the famous Donauradweg (Danube Cycle Path), which is well-marked and super popular with cyclists.

Expect gentle terrain—it’s mostly flat with only about 420 meters of ascent and just a few minor bumps, so you can focus on the river views and picturesque villages along the way. Regensburg is full of medieval history and narrow alleys, while Passau, known as the “City of Three Rivers,” is your rewarding destination, with its colorful old town and baroque St. Stephen’s Cathedral (home to one of the world’s largest church organs!).

Most of your ride is on asphalt, with a few short gravel stretches—nothing too wild. Grab a coffee at one of the riverside towns and enjoy the relaxed vibe of cycling through the Bavarian countryside. Don’t forget your camera!
