By bicycle from Hochfeld to Meiderich

This scenic ride takes you from Hochfeld to Meiderich, two vibrant neighborhoods in Duisburg. Setting off from Hochfeld, once an industrial hub, you’ll spot traces of the city’s steel and coal heritage, mixed with modern multicultural life.

The route is quite bike-friendly and mostly flat, perfect for a relaxing urban tour. You’ll roll up just a mild 31 meters and down nearly 38 meters—hardly enough to break a sweat! Most of the way is paved, with a mix of smooth asphalt, paving stones, and a sprinkle of gravel track that adds a hint of adventure. Short stretches might be unpaved, so watch out if it’s rained recently.

About halfway through, you’ll enjoy stretches on calm roads and dedicated cycleways—ideal for cruising without much traffic. Arriving in Meiderich, you can check out the entryway to Duisburg’s iconic Landschaftspark, a unique park on the site of a former steelworks.
