Cycling day trip from Jausiers to Briançon

Ready for an epic mountain adventure? This route takes you from the charming Alpine village of Jausiers up to the historic town of Briançon—Europe's highest city! You’ll cover just under 100 km, but with more than 4800 meters of climbing and nearly as much descending, it’s a serious ride for strong legs and adventurous spirits.

Expect a real mix of surfaces: while about a third is smooth and paved, a good chunk is gravelly or natural tracks. The ride is pretty remote too, with lots of quiet roads, mountain tracks, and just a few busy sections. Keep your eyes peeled for jaw-dropping Alpine views, especially as you approach the route’s max elevation of just over 2100 meters.

Start in Jausiers, best known as the gateway to the legendary Col de la Bonette, and finish in Briançon, a UNESCO-listed citadel packed with history and cool architecture. Don’t forget to bring extra snacks and weather-appropriate gear—this is one for the memory books!
