Cycling day trip from Marianka to Hainburg an der Donau

This scenic cycling route connects Marianka, Slovakia’s oldest pilgrimage site tucked in the hills just north of Bratislava, to the charming Austrian border town of Hainburg an der Donau. Covering nearly 40 km, the ride treats you to quiet roads and dedicated cycleways, with a satisfying mix of gentle climbs and descents (ascent: 630 m, descent: 678 m). Most of the surface is smooth asphalt, but expect occasional sections of concrete and some gravel, especially as you weave through the forested hills and cross into Austria.

Leaving Marianka, you’ll roll through peaceful countryside and skirt the edge of Bratislava’s outskirts—a great chance to catch glimpses of the Little Carpathians. The final stretch brings you to Hainburg, known for its medieval city walls, historic gates, and lovely views of the Danube River.
