Cycling day trip from Kremnica to Zvolen

Set off from the medieval town of Kremnica, famous for its historic mint and charming old square, and get ready for an adventurous ride to Zvolen! This nearly 39 km route is truly a journey through Central Slovakia's hills and forests, with around 1,050 meters of climbing and even more descending—so expect some steep uphills and rolling downhills.

The path is pretty mixed: about a third is paved, but a good chunk is unpaved or gravel, so a gravel or mountain bike is your best bet here. You'll spend a lot of time on scenic tracks and quiet roads, winding through dense woods and open meadows. The climbs take you up to 1,210 meters, with rewarding views when you reach the higher points.

As you roll into Zvolen, you’re finishing in another historical gem, home to the majestic Zvolen Castle. All in all, it's a tough but rewarding ride with plenty of nature and a dose of Slovakian history at each end. Don’t forget your camera and some snacks for the road!
