Bikepacking from Kristiansand to Bergen

This cycling route takes you from Kristiansand, a charming coastal city known for its sandy beaches and lively summer festivals, all the way north to the breathtaking harbor city of Bergen, famous for its UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf and dramatic fjord scenery.

You’ll be covering over 530 km through iconic Norwegian landscapes, so get set for stunning forest roads, mountain climbs (max elevation over 1,000 meters!), fjord views, and a mix of paved and unpaved stretches—perfect for a gravel or touring bike. About a third of your ride rolls along smooth asphalt, but you’ll also find yourself pedaling gravel and less-traveled tracks amid remote scenery. Expect a nice mix of cycleways, low-traffic rural roads, and the occasional busier stretch.
