Ready for a scenic ride that crosses borders? Start your journey in Muggia—a charming Italian seaside town just south of Trieste, well-known for its Venetian vibes and delightful harborside cafés. From there, you’ll pedal southeast over rolling hills surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, making your way towards Croatia.
The route covers just under 50 km, with a mix of smooth asphalt (over 60%), some stretches of gravel, and a handful of rustic lanes—so a hybrid or gravel bike is perfect. There are a few good climbs (total ascent just over 600 meters), but the Mediterranean views and peaceful Istrian countryside are worth the effort.
After passing through quiet villages and shady paths, you’ll roll into Umag, Croatia. This laid-back coastal town is famous for its stunning Adriatic beaches, seafood, and a splash of international tennis fame. It’s a fantastic spot to refuel by the sea, take a dip, or explore the old town’s Venetian heritage. Don’t forget your passport—you’ll cross the Italy-Croatia border along the way!
