By bicycle from Toblach to Sexten

This ride takes you from Toblach (Dobbiaco) to Sexten (Sesto), two gems of the beautiful Upper Puster Valley in South Tyrol. Starting in Toblach, a charming alpine village known as the “Gateway to the Dolomites” (and a popular hub for both summer cycling and winter sports), you’ll head east toward Sexten, famous for its dramatic mountains and access to the iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

The route covers about 14 km and, while it isn’t super long, it does pack in some punchy climbs—expect a 300+ meter ascent along the way. The surface is split: about half on smooth asphalt and half on a mix of paved lanes and gravel sections, so wider tires are nice but not absolutely mandatory.

You’ll roll through forest tracks, quiet cycleways, and some classic mountain scenery, with the peaks getting grander as you close in on Sexten. This area is perfect for cycling enthusiasts who enjoy both landscape and a bit of adventure. Don’t forget to grab a strudel or cappuccino at either end—the local cafés are legendary!
