Cycling day trip from Toblach to Brixen

Roll out from Toblach/Dobbiaco, the Dolomites’ gateway near the Tre Cime, and point your wheels down the Puster Valley. You’ll follow the Rienza/Rienz on the Pusterbike cycle path through Villabassa and past meadows to Brunico (great coffee stop under the castle). Keep cruising through Chienes and Vandoies, with a few short rollers to wake the legs.

At Rio di Pusteria/Mühlbach, swing into the Eisack Valley path, passing the imposing Franzensfeste fortress, then spin the last easy kilometers into Brixen/Bressanone. It’s one of Tyrol’s oldest towns—think cathedral square, arcades, and the nearby Novacella Abbey for a post-ride wander.

Route vibes: about 67 km, mostly paved and bike-path/quiet roads, with a handful of gravel stretches—32–35 mm tires feel perfect. It’s a net downhill (big descent, some climbing mixed in), so you get Dolomite views without the monster passes. Bring lights for any short tunnels and enjoy the steady flow into Brixen’s old town.
